A number of exhibitors criticize constant power cutoff in the Kigali international trade fair which affects trader’s products like milk, computers and other things that depend on power to remain fresh.

One Chinese exhibitor says that like on Sunday, two days after the kickoff, power went off in the evening and some of their products were stolen adding that the customers shy away since there is darkness.

An Indian seller also say that they are afraid that anything any happen when power goes off including being robbed off their assets. He sells math instruction computer programs and other electronic materials for school going aged kids.

Marie Claire Mpfukamensabe, a Burundian shares a stand with a Tanzanian; she explains the effects of power cutoff.

“My two carpets got burnt worthy almost 200, 000 Rwf, strong measures should be undertaken to better the preparations of expo because in other international trade fair, such challenges rarely occur” Marie Claire Mpfukamensabe, a Burundian exhibitor selling wool carpets says.

However on the side of private sector federation vowed to remove challenges of power shading to protect traders as soon as possible.

“We are trying very hard to fix the problem of power issue with EWSA technicians deployed in Expo” Jolie Grace Ruzibiza, the communication manager of private sector federation disclosed.

She added that, Traders should not be worried much as we are trying to embellish the power issues and Expo is also insured incase of damage.

Early this year the head of the state Paul Kagame said that electricity should be increased but the situation remains stalled.

The Pakistani, Indian, Kenyans, Tanzanians and Burundians brought their wares in the exhibition towards electricity shading issue. The 15th Kigali International exhibition will end on the 8th August.
