Electricity use promotes Development

After 3 years of access to electricity to local people in Kamonyi district especially in rural area, residents say that access to electricity has enabled them  work on many projects that continue support their social Development.

Towards the end of 2010 when electricity started to be distributed in many parts of Kamonyi district, the strong trading centers near the main road like Ruyenzi, Nkoto, Kamonyi, Rugobagoba and Musambira trading centers were the first to have access to electricity.

The electricity distribution in Kamonyi district is now targeting local areas as residents of Musebeya in Muganza cell in Runda sector got access to electricity one week ago. With much excitement, residents of this village are sure that this infrastructure will change their way of living for better and will start projects like saloons and grinding centers instead of traveling to other areas for the same services.

Some parents are very grateful to have got the electricity as this will stop their children from being stubborn especially those who would delay coming home from schools while watching television in trading centers with electricity but now these services will be given in the homes and in their town.

Residents are also positive that this infrastructure will give value to their land since many people did not want to come and reside their but now that there is electricity, their land will be sold at a higher value and many people will be coming to get lands in this area.

Though residents are excited about electricity, there are other developmental infrastructures they still lack like clean water, markets, hospitals and schools especially nursery schools as young children cannot make a 3kilometers journey to Gihara primary school the nearest school.
