After years of making 15 kilometers journey to Ruhuha sector to access electricity, residents of Kamabuye sector in Bugesera district have finally got electricity.

This comes to life as a fulfillment of the promise made by the President of Rwanda H.E Paul Kagame to the area residents during his 2nd term campaigns.

While officially showcasing electricity to the residents, Louis Rwagaju, mayor of Bugesera district told them to make good use of electricity and develop socially and economically.

“This energy is not for lighting only. Set up developmental projects like welding, carpentry and others,” Mayor highlights.

The acting Director of Electricity Water Sanitation Authority (EWSA) in Bugesera district, Mfizi Elie Ngarambe told residents that electricity is a catalyst to fast development.

“Electricity goes with development, make good use of it to attain social development in this sector,” he adds.

Residents embrace the development saying they will use it to their advantages and of the community as confirms Odette Mukabayire; the director general of the National Reference Laboratory.

“Electricity has reduced on theft cases due to darkness in addition to enabling residents watch television unlike before,” Mukabayire narrates.

She adds that it was difficult for children to revise at night which could leave them with no choice but to go read from sector premises.

Electricity power that was extended from Ruhuha sector through Ngeruka sector cost over Rwf140 funded by Rwanda Local Support Development Fund.
