The Energy, Water and Sanitation Authority (EWSA) are is a sensitization program especially to the people in rural Rwanda on the use of solar system as source of power. This program was on this Friday the 11th Oct 2013 initiated in Ruhango district.
EWSA workers explaining the advantages of using Solar ot Ruhango residents
According to Fransis Hirwa who is in charge of Solar Use System in EWSA, this program is done home to home sensitizing family members on the advantages and benefits of using Solar Energy.
“If a family can spend about Rwf40 000 annually on the expenses of the electricity, with the Solar energy, that family can spend about Rwf15 000. This is because Solar Energy is cheaper and can last for years” explained Hirwa to residents of Ruhango district.
Solar Usage is more beneficial to people with no access to electricity
Valens Rucogoza a resident of Ruhango sector, after listening of the benefits of using Solar Energy said “the first thing I will do when I get money is to have the solar power. I am tired of living in darkness and making the distance to charge my telephone.”
Louis Ndamage a resident of Byimana sector like many other residents of Ruhango district is considering of getting the Solar Energy alongside the electricity. “Sometimes the electricity goes at the most opportune time when you need it the most and it would save the day if you have access to Solar Energy.”
The sensitization program in Ruhango district will last for a week; it started on this Friday the 11th Oct 2013 and will end on Friday the 18th Oct 2013.
